Artist Statement

Ginger Kubish has been taking photographs for as long as she can remember.  Her father and uncle encouraged her to use their equipment while growing up and she took her first photography class in high school.  It was after receiving her BS in Microbiology from Michigan State University and then working at the University of Michigan as a researcher, she realized she needed photography as her creative outlet.

Ginger resumed photography classes such as Alternative Processes and was particularly fascinated as it gave her new creative options.  She likes to shoot digital images, but she also likes the magic that happens in the darkroom.  Alternative processes allows her to do both.

The following year she learned more about black and white and she developed a style using pattern, texture, and detail.  She enjoys creating images that make strong black and white composition.
